It was a two alarm fire that closed down the ice cream parlor on School Street and the 5 Corners Kitchen, a popular restaurant, on Tuesday 7/12/. Surrounding towns of Lynn, Salem, Melrose and Swampscott came to our aid and the fire was extinguished. It caused quite a ruckus in Town as fire trucks raced through, sirens blaring. No injuries were reported in the Daily Item’s coverage, but the restaurants will be closed and kids will have to lick elsewhere when it comes to ice cream for a while.
