Town hires an interim business manager for the schools

August 3, 2011

Kevin Meagher of Winthrop has been hired by Superintendent Maass to help out while the normal search protocol is conducted for the permanent position of business manager. Mr. Meagher will be eligible for the position as well. He is very experienced in the functions of the position and its responsibilities because he has been performing them inWinthrop. But Winthrop made a decision to combine the town and school business functions into one department. Mr. Meagher did not agree with this decision and direction. He left the system on good terms with praise from the School Committee Chairman. He views this temporary Marblehead position, as previously reported in the Lynn Item, as a “foot in the door” in a system he admires and would like to work in. Sounds like a good plan.
