New Super strikes a good note on day one

September 2, 2011

Dr. Maas’s theme might be “We are in this together.”  As the Marblehead Public Schools were listed as the 24th best system out of 135 districts, the School Committee Chairman in her comments challenged the new Superintendent to “take the system” to the top ten. As reported in the Lynn Item1 Maas replied, “Why not number one?” Over the past four years of Superintendent Dulac, teachers left the first day’s meetings depressed and discouraged. As spoken of in the recent campaign and reported in the local press, many felt morale had fallen to all-time lows. At least on the first day, this year is off to a better beginning.

Just don’t ask about the second day’s presentation on Ames Web Assessment.
