Congressman Tierney’s wife reported to deny knowing anything about gambling business

November 23, 2011

During three hours on the witness stand concerning her brother, Robert Eremian, and his alleged illegal gambling activities, Patrice Tierney stated that she had no idea what was going on. The Assistant U.S. Attorney, Fred Wyshak, questioned her “aggressively”1 concerning the two trips she and, her husband, John Tierney made to Antigua, ten years apart in 1999 and 2009. She said the she saw people working at computers and never asked her brother about the nature of the work going on there. She also denied that the Congressman saw anything either. Apparently they had dinner there, nothing else, she is reported to have said. Last year Patrice Tierney did plead guilty to aiding and abetting the filing of false tax returns. She served 30 days in prison and five months in house arrest for the crime. As quoted in the Daily Item, she stated, “My brother told me it was licensed and legal.” She paid herself $173,000 for the six years she worked for her brother.
