The Mariner Project Is Back Again

October 26, 2017

The Land Court of Massachusetts has delayed their review of the project and sent it back to Marblehead’s Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) for a second look and a November 6 public hearing. Interested parties should mark their calendars and attend the hearing at the Veterans Memorial Middle School at 7:00 p.m.

82,182 square feet, 87 units, and 108 beds, this Pleasant Street project came to the attention of the town and the neighborhood in 2015. There was heavy opposition and ultimately the Zoning Board voted the project down. Adverse effect on the neighborhood was cited as the main reason, also mentioned was the appearance of the project, which was deemed “incompatible” with the surrounding structures. The project owners filed an appeal to the Land Court which has been rescheduled for November at this point. The project was resubmited to the ZBA, but the neighbors are objecting to this repeat appearance. “The neighbors are adamant” ((Marblehead Reporter, October 26, 2017, page 1 and B8.))
